Product Development Manager
Mutual Funds/Institutional Investment Vehicles
This firm is 200 plus years' old global asset management firm, with close to $300 billion (US$) under management. With offices in 26 countries around the world, the firm is aggressively growing its business in North America and is looking to appoint a highly capable, enthusiastic and qualified individual to work with senior management in the region and the global product team abroad.
In this role the candidate will report directly to the CEO, North America, and will have a functional report line to the Head of Product Development in London. The candidate will work closely with senior management to:
1. Pro-actively define, implement and continuously re-assess, the product strategy and delivery mechanisms for the institutional, DC and intermediary markets in the US and Canada.
2. To be effective in this role the candidate will need to:
a. Fully understand the US markets for investment products and solutions across each channel; knowledge of Canadian markets is an added plus
b. Have a strong understanding of investment strategies across equities, fixed income, alternatives and multi-asset solutions
c. Be knowledgeable on the current strengths and weaknesses of competitors' products and product strategies
d. Identify and help position the key investment strategies of the firm that can be successfully sold into the market
e. Assess demand trends and product development trends in the industry, recommend competitive participation and positioning
f. Understand the structure, relative benefits, competitive pricing and commercial viability of pooled vehicles for the institutional, DC and intermediary channels
g. Be familiar with the 1940 Act and other laws and regulations surrounding the development, launch, and ongoing management and sale of relevant investment vehicles
h. Have a strong technical knowledge on the appropriate uses and relevant advantages or disadvantages of each structure and the investment strategies, instruments and structures that can be used within in each structure.
i. Have a proven track record of creating, launching and supporting mutual funds and other institutional vehicles including 3c7s and CITs.
3. The candidate will work closely with the COO, the operations, legal, compliance and risk teams in New York and their counterparts globally in performing their role and will need to demonstrate strong leadership and project management skills to leverage the skills of these teams, and the sales, marketing and investment teams to ensure the efficient and timely execution of the agreed product strategy.
