Neighborhood Trust Federal Credit Union (NTFCU) is a community development credit union located in Washington Heights. NTFCU has a mission to provide low-cost financial services to the underserved market in northern Manhattan and to New Yorkers across all five boroughs. The credit union is committed to helping everyone access affordable savings accounts, loans, and other financial services.
The Loan Officer is responsible for the intake and processing of consumer loans.
The credit union is seeking someone to fill this position for 1.5 days per week from June through September. The preferred schedule includes Saturday 10:00 -- 2:00, and one other full day per week.
This position reports to the Director of Lending.
Job Description
Accountable for the intake, processing, packaging, and presentation of consumer loans: personal and debt consolidation loans, credit cards and car loans.
Assist with loan servicing for existing consumer loans.
Maintain high portfolio quality
Partner with the Director of Lending and Operations to create a well-run credit union in which there is efficient coordination between member services, operations, and lending.
Requirements
Previous exposure to consumer loan underwriting (reading credit reports, knowledge of standard metrics like debit-to-income) a strong plus
Detail-oriented and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills, Excel and Word
Willingness to work additional hours as needed
Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
- Compensation: $12-$20 per hour, depending on experience
