A leading privately-held, boutique investment banking firm focused exclusively on the health care industry, is looking to hire an Associate to join its Tax-Exempt MA team. This role will offer significant opportunity for senior-level client exposure, since small and focused deals teams are the norm for mergers acquisitions, fairness opinions, valuations, and strategic advisory engagements. The focus of the Tax-Exempt MA team is advising not-for-profit hospitals and health systems on mergers and affiliations with other health systems, hospital and physician organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead execution of MA transactions in the tax-exempt health care sector with emphasis on hospitals and health systems
- Direct involvement in the creation of offering memoranda, internal committee memoranda, management and board presentations, pitch books and other material relevant to originating and executing tax-exempt MA transactions
- Prepare valuations of tax-exempt hospitals and other provider organizations including discounted cash flow, comparable company, precedent transactions, and other analyses
- Maintain proprietary databases used in research and corporate valuation functions
- Provide overall transaction team support and oversight of financial analysts
- Help manage relationships with other professional firms and trade groups
Qualifications
- 2 years of relevant experience in investment banking, accounting, finance or consulting, preferably within the healthcare industry
- Bachelors/MBA degree in business with an emphasis in finance and/or accounting is preferred
- Extensive financial modeling experience as customarily used in investment banking
- High level knowledge of tax-exempt financial statements and financing structures
- Experience working with tax-exempt hospitals and health systems including understanding of key industry trends and business drivers is preferred
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Proven ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment
- Outstanding work ethic
- Must be willing to travel when necessary
- Series 79 and 63 licenses preferred
