Best Interior Design Internship/Paid (Midtown West)

Best Interior Design Internship/Paid (Midtown West)

We are a small design firm in Downtown Manhattan. We specialize in restaurant, bar, nightlife and high end residential interiors. We have a hands-on approach with our interns who get involved in all aspects of the business. From client meetings, conceptualization, drafting, sourcing and implementation....you are involved all the way.

We are looking for a recent Interior Design graduate OR a proficient Junior interior designer who is highly motivated, ambitious, charismatic, enthusiastic, committed, and appreciate the opportunity for a strong leap forward in the New York nightlife industry as well as the high end residential market.

The hours are long (up to 12 a day), the position is extremely demanding and for six months the STIPEND pay is low ($300/week) to start. You need to be an expert at AUTO CAD and Adobe Creative Suite and proficient in a rendering program such as 3ds Max or Rhino. You also need to be extremely strong at multi-tasking and note taking as you will have to absorb a lot of information daily!

You will in return receive know-how and get more experience in six months than in any big firm! We teach not only about interior design, but about life in business and developing relationships with clients and vendors.

Please attach any images or PDF's of projects that you have worked on; that too will help us decide if you are right for the position and should come interview. We put a lot of effort into our interns and want to always make sure that no one is wasting their time. Also, this is a people business, and as you may have the skill set, character is high on our list. You must be an outgoing, courteous and considerate individual to work here.
If you are not in the field, pay is too low, still in school, have no design experience nor the qualifications mentioned above, or pay is too low, this is not the right position for you, so please do not reply.
Specific Responsibilities Include but not limited to:

Design of architectural elements , floor plans, elevations and layouts
Design of custom furniture, millwork, and accessories
Selection of furnishings, wall and floor coverings, lighting, and accessories
Design of presentation furniture and finish plans
Research and sourcing for new products, materials, and ideas
Preparation of presentation materials, including digital slide shows and material sample boards
Coordinating with vendors
Coordination and tracking of client-related purchases
Showroom visits with clients
Trade show attendance to meet vendors and view new products

  • Compensation: $16,000-$26,000/year
  • This is an internship job
