Graduate Gemologist Instructor (Midtown East)

Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the world's foremost authority in gemology, is seeking an Instructor for its NYC Campus.

Primary Functions:

To teach designated gemology related topics to students.

To provide students with clear objectives and goals as outlined in the established curriculum.

To demonstrate gemological knowledge and expertise and the principles of adult education in the classroom.

Requirements:

Graduate Gemologist Diploma and a minimum of 3 years related practical jewelry industry experience is required to meet the standards of the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT).

In addition, Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university and industry coursework such as Graduate Jeweler Gemologist (GJG), Accredited Jewelry Professional (AJP), Jewelry Manufacturing Arts
(JMA) diplomas is preferred.

Must have the ability to use and apply effective oral communication and exhibit positive interpersonal skills.

Public speaking experience preferred, teaching experience desirable.

Responsibilities:

Develop students to be Graduate Gemologists using the on-campus course curriculum.

Maintain and regulate all classroom activities by following the prescribed schedules, policies and procedures.

Develop, maintain, and update personal development as an instructor.
