Partner, Revenue Reporting -- Finance Department
Accounting Management Solutions (AMS) has been retained to find a Director of Finance for our client, a national nonprofit organization for teachers and educational leadership.
Flexible location (Brooklyn, NY preferred)
The Client is currently seeking a Partner, Revenue Reporting to join the Finance Department. The Partner is a critical leader, managing their key functions or contracts, generating much of their content and strategy, and serving as the face of the organization to clients and external stakeholders. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will work from our central office in Brooklyn, New York (preferred) or from a home office anywhere in the United States (flexible location). This position is available immediately.
Central Finance Department
The Client's Central Finance department is responsible for developing and executing the fiscal strategy for their growing and financially thriving organization of over 300 full-time and regular part-time employees working on contracts in almost 30 states across the country. Specifically, the Central Finance department manages budget development and monitoring processes, financial reporting, audits, internal controls and policies, and other accounting operations. This is a small, dynamic team of like minded professionals dedicated to providing exceptional and strategic support to an exceptional staff of educational leaders.
Role and Responsibilities
The Partner, Revenue Reporting is responsible for developing the Client's revenue strategy, setting annual contribution targets for each Department, and leading the Revenue team to well-support the core business in attaining these targets by providing accurate, timely financial information and advisement on key financial decisions. The Partner, Revenue Reporting must exercise sound judgment and provide high quality service to business partners to ensure the financial sustainability of our program services. Responsibilities include:
Provide strategic vision and leadership on the department's direction, goals, financial metrics, and systems
Collaborate with department's Management Team to set and evolve goals and strategy
Contribute new ideas, insights and solutions that advance the department's work
Set revenue-specific goals and the strategic plans for attaining those goals for each project in collaboration with the business leader
Identify and capture critical knowledge and best practices learned from each iteration of the work, and share this knowledge throughout the organization
Manage the revenue function within the Finance Department
Create budget and pricing models for new business and government or foundation grant opportunities, including proposals for contract renewals or expansion, to meet revenue targets
Monitor financial progress by forecasting individual client budgets, analyzing variances, and providing strategic guidance to ensure financial targets are met
Prepare accurate timely reports for business leaders and on government or foundation expenses
Build a strong Revenue Reporting team that attain its goals by effectively attracting, hiring, on-boarding and evaluating staff
Provide relevant and timely feedback, coaching, technical assistance and effective development opportunities to staff to develop future leaders for the department, Group and the organization
Build a positive work environment that reflects the Client's unique culture
Develop the internal talent pipeline for the Finance department and Talent Operations Group
Cultivate partnerships with business leaders within the organization to advance the Client's mission
Build relationships with business leaders, and motivate and influence them appropriately to build investment in and support for financial priorities
Deeply understand each business leader's context, challenges, and unique opportunities in order to be perceived as a financial expert and trusted thought partner
Qualifications
The Client is seeking an achievement-oriented leader with a passion for our mission. Successful candidates will also possess the following qualifications:
CPA and/or MBA (preferred)
Experience in nonprofit accounting preferred: familiarity with nonprofit accounting guidance and federal government grant requirements
10+ years of professional experience (public accounting experience preferred)
Detail-oriented professional with ability to handle complex reporting while meeting firm deadlines, sometimes with short turnaround times and competing priorities
The ability to critically assess challenges and identify effective solutions
The ability to work efficiently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
Excellent management skills, including experience effectively managing staff and developing talent
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others at all levels of an organization and to consistently display a high level of professionalism in all interactions
Excellent analytical and organization skills
Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity
Strong written and oral communication skills
Obsessive attention to detail
A record of achieving ambitious goals
Excellent computer skills including database management and Excel
Superior quantitative skills
A willingness to work non-standard hours and occasional weekends
Compensation
The annual salary for this position is commensurate with experience in a similar position with the potential for a performance based bonus.
